This notice explains how personal information is handled when you rent and return a power bank using a HeyCharge touchscreen rental station, pay at its card reader, view rental information, or contact us about a rental.

A local rental operator or merchant identified at the station or in the rental terms may also be responsible for information used to provide your rental and take payment. Please refer to that operator's notice where one is provided. This notice concerns the touchscreen rental service; our general website privacy policy is available at https://heycharge.global/privacy-policy.html.
The standard touchscreen rental flow does not ask you to enter a name, email address, telephone number, date of birth or postal address. A payment provider, a separate customer-facing service, or a support interaction may request additional information for its particular purpose. Station location and network information should not be confused with continuous tracking of your phone's location.
Where applicable data protection law requires a legal basis, these activities rely on performing the rental contract or taking steps at your request, meeting legal obligations, and legitimate interests in operating a reliable service, preventing fraud and resolving disputes, subject to your rights. Where consent is required for an optional activity, it must be obtained separately. This privacy notice does not itself authorize a payment or constitute consent to marketing.
Payment processing depends on the station's configuration. Stations using Stripe Terminal use Stripe to collect and process payment information. Depending on the rental option, the flow may authorize a payment in advance or set up a payment method to charge the rental fee later. The station's pricing, rental terms and payment authorization govern the charges.
Payment providers, card networks and banks may process information under their own privacy notices and legal duties. Stripe's privacy notice is available at https://stripe.com/privacy. The payment references used by the rental application do not mean that only those references are processed by the payment provider.
If you contact support, provide the rental reference, station and approximate rental time where available. Do not send your full card number, card security code, PIN or wallet credentials.
Information needed to deliver the rental may be shared with the relevant rental operator or merchant, payment processors and financial institutions, and providers of hosting, network delivery, technical maintenance and customer support. The information needed depends on their role in the service.
When this notice is loaded from an online host, that host and its network delivery providers process the request and related connection information. This includes Cloudflare where the notice is served through Cloudflare Pages. The notice request originates from the rental station when you view it on the touchscreen.
Information may also be disclosed where required by law or a valid legal request, or where necessary to investigate fraud, resolve disputes or protect legal rights. Website analytics, advertising or chat tools described in our general website policy do not automatically form part of the touchscreen rental flow. If you open a separate website or mobile service, its own notice also applies.
Service providers and operators may process information in countries other than the country where you rent a power bank. Our general website policy identifies transfers outside Europe, including to China, Canada and the United States. The destinations relevant to a particular rental depend on the operator and providers involved. Where required by applicable law, international transfers must be covered by an appropriate legal mechanism and safeguards. Contact us for information about the arrangements applicable to your rental.
Rental, payment, support and technical records are retained for the periods needed for the purposes described above, including completing the rental, settling payments, resolving disputes and meeting applicable accounting or other legal requirements. Information should be protected with technical and organizational measures appropriate to its sensitivity. No system or transmission method can guarantee absolute security. The touchscreen is a shared public device: rental timing and fee information may briefly be visible in the return summary, so please return to the home screen when finished.
Depending on the law that applies to you, you may have rights to access or obtain a copy of your personal information, correct it, request deletion, restrict or object to certain processing, receive portable data, and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. Withdrawal does not affect processing already lawfully carried out. You may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Send requests to info@emcctech.com. We may need information to verify your identity and locate the relevant rental. Some records may need to be retained to meet legal obligations or resolve claims. Information necessary to authorize payment and administer the rental is required to provide that service.
Consistent with our general website policy, the service is not intended for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect or solicit their personal information. Rental eligibility is also subject to the applicable rental terms and local law. Please contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information through the service.
